German Dance group, Scooter, is notorious for delivering elaborate lighting in shows. Their current Can’t Stop the Hardcore tour is no exception.
For this tour, Scooter has employed Lighting Designer Jerry Appelt and Lighting Programmer Marc Brunkhardt, who is well-known for his dexterity. The duo has a long history of working together for TV shows and concerts.
For Scooter’s tour, the main challenge for Appelt and Brunkhardt was to integrate 400 lighting fixtures into a lighting setup fit for touring, including 160 P-5 units from SGM. Appelt chose the P-5s for their versatility and different looks – he wanted strong colors as well as strobe and blinder options.
The lighting design is centered around five large rigs – each containing 18 P-5s. These rigs are designed for easy assembly and disassembly, which is ideal for a busy touring setup. A further 40 P-5 units are places on a v-shaped front truss and along the front risers another 30 P-5 units are deployed.
