SGM P-5s shed light on International Military Games 2016

Wash lights illuminating the fearsome competition.

The games utilizes the complex training of tank crews including their rough terrain passing skills combined with the ability to provide accurate and rapid fire while performing maneuvers.

I know the P-5s from previous projects and they are some of my all-time favorite lights – so great for outdoor applications.

Tank battles lit up by P-5s

48 P-5s were deployed to create ambient combat lighting for the second International Military Games that took place across 18 test sites of the western, central and southern military districts of Russia. The related competitions Masters of Artillery Fire and Sniper Abroad took place in Kazakhstan. Also part of the games is the Tank Biathlon, which involved soldiers from 19 countries.

Aleksandr Belikov was the Lighting Designer and the P-5s were supplied by rental company Laser Kinetics. Belikov chose the P-5 wash lights based on their powerful colors and their suitability for the potentially hostile environment, where the fixtures could be exposed to sand, dust and rain. Belikov said:
“I know the P-5s from previous projects and they are some of my all-time favorite lights – so great for outdoor applications where the conditions can get rough. I immediately thought of them for this project.”

The Tank Biathlon competition culminated in a final between the Russian Federation (green tank), the Republic of Kazakhstan (blue tank), the Republic of Belarus (yellow tank) and the People's Republic of China (red tank). The Russian Federation team took first place, followed by China in second place and Kazakhstan in third place.
